Top 7 Over 70 and Heritage Park announced a partnership in spring 2022. Going forward, both community focused organizations will work together to capture and share the exceptional stories of the Top 7 Over 70 recipients at Heritage Park.
The Top 7 Over 70 organization has chosen Heritage Park to become the new home for a permanent exhibit that will ensure the wisdom of award recipients is shared for future generations.
Jim Gray, founder of the Top 7 Over 70, said, “Heritage Park is a vital part of the fabric of this city and province. It is a place that keeps alive the stories of our history, our people and our place in the world. It is thus only fitting that Heritage Park will also become the home for the stories of our Top 7 Over 70 recipients.
“The Top 7 Over 70 recipients represent the best of our province,” Gray said. “They are innovators who have an unmatched can-do attitude. They work to make our community a better place every day, no matter what age or stage they are at.”
Lindsey Galloway, president and CEO of Heritage Park, said, “I am excited Heritage Park will establish a new home for the recognition of Top 7 over 70 Award winners. Heritage Park and Top 7 over 70 will work to create a celebration of seniors — our wisdom leaders — year around.
“Seniors have literally helped to shape our province into the place that it is today, and they continue to do so, proving age really is just a number,” he noted.
The Top 7 Over 70 recipients demonstrate core Alberta values of innovation and determination — values that Heritage Park has celebrated for almost six decades. Featuring Canada’s largest collection of historic buildings, 55,000 historical artifacts and 17,000 authentic costumes, visitors to Heritage Park Historical Village step back in time to discover stories and perspectives from the past that remain relevant today. That’s why it’s so important to showcase the incredible stories of the Top 7 Over 70 recipients.
More information about the permanent exhibit celebrating the Top 7 Over 70 will be available in the coming months.
Top 7 Over 70 organizers would also like to thank Heritage Park for its generous surprise at the last two galas. The park presented the Top 7 Over 70 winners with season passes and also gave a daily pass, for two, to each of the gala attendees.
